New Horizons School of English is a private English language school. NSE is located right on Brisbane’s doorstep, in the suburb of Thornlands. NSE provides a comprehensive English language program, emphasising academic quality and embracing cultural diversity, while upholding Christian values.  A celebration of unity in the midst of diversity creates an appreciation for the contribution that each person brings to our community.

New for 2018

New Horizons School of English is preparing new, innovative short-term study tour programs for international students.

4 weeks in duration, English plus core skills development. Built into the program are projects to collaborate with local students and organisations.

Our language and skills development courses include:

  • English combined with core skills development – Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Critical Thinking
  • General English
  • IELTS Preparation
  • Specialised English – e.g.  TESOL, Tourism, Events

These can be combined with your choice of:

  • excursions to all Gold Coast & Brisbane attractions
  • sporting and team building activities using our college on-campus facilities
  • shopping trips
  • home visits and cooking classes
  • airport transfers.

Please note that we stipulate a minimum program length of one week.

We have welcomed study groups from educational institutions worldwide, including:

  • Korean Nazarene University,  Korea
  • Tokai dai,  Japan

Background

We are located in a Koala conservation zone. An hour from the Gold Coast, 50 mins from Brisbane CBD and South Bank and 10 minutes from Cleveland train station and the ferry to Stradbroke Island.

We have a large number of native flora and fauna on site and have a Council recognised Habitat protection plan in place to protect and care for the native species.

While we are a separate entity, we share the campus with our sister organisation, the Nazarene Theological College. A CRICOS accredited tertiary provider of Bachelor and Masters degrees in Theology.

In the past we have been a regular provider of English Study Tours for Japanese and Korean Schools and Universities 4 – 8 weeks in duration with intensive General English study + Cultural Tours. Accommodation is provided on site in our dormitories with evening visits from our resident wallabies.

Students stay on Tourist Visas.

New Horizons School of English also provides – IELTS preparation classes; General English; and TESOL training (via a partnership with LTi).

Redland City Council – Council are working on an Action plan to position Redlands as an education and innovation Hub. NSE is part of a consortium of local education providers in consultation with Council on the creation of an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem for the Redlands. The Redlands Chamber of Commerce are open to hosting NSE students in their regular breakfast series of events to provide feedback on student pitch presentations.
