Weekly International Student Mixer

A weekly social event for students of Business and Entrepreneurship // Students with an interest in creating their own career paths.

“Practice your Elevator Pitch”

The pitch could be to promote yourself – preparing for that critical moment when you meet someone at a networking event, a preliminary interview (or in an elevator) who could pave the way to your future job.

Or the pitch could be to promote your business idea to potential investors.

“The key to being career ready is to know your skills and know what problem you can solve for potential employers and to be able to articulate that succinctly with confidence and clarity.”

This takes practice. Especially when English is your second language or the second language of your audience. That’s why NSE offers a regular opportunity to practice your pitch with other students in a comfortable environment.

2 hour afternoon / evening event. Building in time for tips, feedback and Q&A, with an opportunity to relax afterwards and build connections.

1 x per week over 4 weeks consecutively. Allows time to gain confidence and experience.

Students have more than one opportunity to pitch over the 4 weeks, practicing delivery and perfecting their pitch. The students can each do their pitch in a “Shark Tank” style competition that has a weekly winner. The winning pitch team earns the input of the mentors and other project teams on their project.

Student Benefits:
  1. Meet local counterparts and create opportunities for future collaboration beyond graduation
  2. Inspire and internationalise local projects and business models
  3. Operate in a supportive, educative environment outside the classroom preparing for the Real World
  4. Opportunities for critical thinking and collaboration on current projects within the course
  5. Hone English presentation skills to pitch to an international audience

Future -U A future-looking, skills-based face to face and online community. “If we were looking down at the Earth right now we would see a planet undergoing massive transition in technology, work, and society. Many are aware of the problems we face as 30-60% of jobs are lost to automation by 2035, but not putting the pieces together in a way that allows us to plan for this ‘post-work’ future. How to respond? With a community”
